ANU Coach Oluoch Sees Room for Improvement Despite Dominating Victory

Africa Nazarene University (ANU) secured a 61-16 win against Kenyatta University Oryx in a Kenya National Basketball League match held at Nyayo National Stadium.

Despite the dominant performance, ANU’s coach, Mike Oluoch, believes there is still much work to be done to excel in future matches.

ANU took control early, leading 26-5 in the first quarter and extending their lead to 42-9 by halftime, leaving Kenyatta University Oryx struggling. However, Coach Oluoch emphasized the need for continued improvement to compete effectively against their rivals.

“The girls played well, followed my instructions, and executed effectively. But we still have a lot of work to do for us to compete at par with our rivals,” noted Coach Oluoch.

Jelia Kiberenge contributed 15 points, and Dosila Okode added 10 for ANU, showcasing their steady progress.

Kenyatta University Oryx’s coach, Caleb Osewe, acknowledged the team’s gradual improvement and expressed optimism about their future performance.

In another match, Storms defeated Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) with a score of 54-44, marking their third win in five outings.

Coach Abel Nson commended his new signings, Barbra Achieng and Lindsey Nandakho, for their significant contributions to the team’s scoring tally.

The game’s top scorer was Margaret Spinks from JKUAT, with 21 points in the losing effort.

In lower division matches, Kisii University beat Hope 64-44, JKUAT Stray Cats defeated Blazers 60-52, and Moi Air Base (MAB) emerged victorious over Neosasa with a score of 78-64.

Stanbic Aces secured a dominant win against Vipers with a score of 72-24, while Bungoma-based Swift defeated neighbours Western Delight 69-49 in the women’s matches.

While ANU celebrated their victory, Coach Oluoch focused on refining the team’s performance for future challenges in the league.
