Newcastle struggled to create chances, with Ramsdale saving a shot from Murphy before the break. Odegaard also came close to scoring again, but his effort was saved by Pope.
The home side had a golden opportunity to equalize in the second half, but Alexander Isak’s header hit the post and Ramsdale denied Schar’s attempt. Arsenal then took control of the game and sealed the victory through Schar’s own goal.
The win keeps Arsenal’s hopes of a league title alive, with the Gunners needing Manchester City to slip up in their remaining games.
