Arsenal retained their position at the summit of the English Premier League table following a tightly contested 1-1 draw between title contenders Liverpool and Manchester City at Anfield Stadium on Sunday.

In a gripping encounter, Alexis Mac Allister equalized for Liverpool in the second half from the penalty spot after City goalkeeper Ederson fouled Reds’ Darwin Nunez, resulting in a spot-kick which Mac Allister confidently converted in the 50th minute.

Manchester City had taken the lead in the 23rd minute when John Stones capitalized on Kevin de Bruyne’s corner delivery, sweeping the ball past the Liverpool goalkeeper.

The match saw several close chances for both teams, with City’s Phil Foden hitting the crossbar and Liverpool’s Jeremy Doku striking the post late in the game.

With the draw, Arsenal maintained their position at the top of the Premier League standings, level on points with second-placed Liverpool. Meanwhile, Manchester City remained just a point behind in third place.

The result keeps the title race wide open as the season progresses, with Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester City all vying for the coveted Premier League trophy.
