Bayern Munich’s honorary president Uli Hoeness has expressed his belief that England captain Harry Kane will join the German giants from Tottenham Hotspur.
According to Hoeness, Kane has made it clear in their discussions that he has decided to join Bayern this summer. If he remains committed to his decision, Hoeness is confident that the transfer will happen, as Tottenham will have to give in.
Although Bayern have reportedly agreed on personal terms with Kane, their initial bid of €70 million was rejected by Spurs. The London club is said to be demanding at least €100 million for their star striker, who is currently part of their squad for the pre-season Asia-Pacific tour.
Bayern Munich is determined to secure the signing of England’s all-time top scorer, especially considering that Kane’s contract with Spurs expires in 2024.
While Kane’s camp is believed to be in favor of the move, Bayern still needs to reach an agreement with Tottenham regarding the transfer fee.
Hoeness highlighted that Kane’s desire to play in international competitions is a motivating factor, and Tottenham’s failure to qualify for Europe next season works in Bayern’s favor.
The opportunity to play for one of the best clubs in Europe is now open for Kane, added Hoeness, who is part of a Bayern committee overseeing this summer’s recruitment alongside Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, Jan-Christian Dreesen, and coach Thomas Tuchel.
Hoeness acknowledged that negotiations with Tottenham president Daniel Levy will not be easy, as Levy is known for his shrewdness. However, Hoeness believes they will eventually come to an agreement on the transfer fee.
While Levy tries to buy time, Hoeness appreciates his professionalism but emphasizes that Bayern is well aware of the situation and won’t be easily sway
