David Matano Triumphs as Overall Winner in Thika Sports Club’s Leg of NCBA Golf Series
Thika Sports Club’s golf course was the stage for an exhilarating competition as David Matano emerged as the ultimate victor among a field of 256 highly skilled golfers during the NCBA golf series on May 27.
Matano, showcasing his remarkable talent and playing off a handicap of 3, secured a resounding victory with an impressive score of 32 Stableford points.
In the men’s gross category, Simon Ndung’u, with a handicap of 6, solidified his position as the top contender by scoring 31 Stableford points. His exceptional performance surpassed that of Chege, who scored 27 Stableford points with an 11 handicap.
Naomi Kimata, playing off a handicap of 13, showcased her prowess in the ladies’ gross category, claiming the championship title with an outstanding score of 27 Stableford points. Winnie Mugo secured second place with 19 Stableford points, adding to the thrilling competition.
The overall Nett category for men witnessed another exceptional display of skill, with David Mwangi taking the crown.
Mwangi, playing off an 18 handicap, achieved an impressive score of 38 Stableford points, further solidifying his position as a formidable golfer.
Meanwhile, Bibiana Kariuki, with a handicap of 36, dominated the ladies’ Nett category, clinching the championship title with an impressive score of 40 Stableford points.
The Junior category was not to be outdone, as Garcia Kimemia showcased the remarkable talent and emerged as the champion.
With an 18 handicap, Kimemia triumphed among the junior golfers with a score of 28 Nett Points, leaving a lasting impression on the spectators.
The competition also recognized outstanding individual achievements. Ndegwa Thuku claimed the coveted Longest Drive title in the men’s category, while Lucy Maina emerged victorious among the talented ladies.
Gibson Singen displayed extraordinary precision, securing the Nearest to the Pin title, further elevating the excitement of the event.
James Karinga, the NCBA group deputy director for Asset Finance, expressed his deep honour and appreciation for being a part of this incredible event.
