Former Lyon manager, Peter Bosz, has been appointed as the new coach of Dutch top-flight club PSV Eindhoven, stepping in after the departure of Ruud van Nistelrooy last month.
Bosz, a seasoned Dutchman with managerial experience at Bayer Leverkusen, Borussia Dortmund, and Ajax, was relieved of his duties at Lyon in October of last year due to a string of disappointing results.
Expressing his excitement about the new opportunity, Bosz stated in a club-issued statement, “From the first moment, I got a warm feeling. Both PSV and I are hungry to perform. Last season, two trophies were won, but our goal is to become national champions. That’s what we’re aiming for.”
PSV’s football director regarded Bosz as the “ideal candidate” for the position.
In the previous season, PSV finished as runners-up in the Eredivisie, behind Rotterdam’s Feyenoord, and ahead of the once-mighty Ajax. They also secured the KNVB Cup this year.
Ruud van Nistelrooy, the former Netherlands and Manchester United striker, resigned from his coaching role in May, citing a “lack of support within the club.”
Bosz brings with him a wealth of experience, having previously managed Dutch clubs Vitesse and Heracles Almelo. During his tenure at Ajax, he led the team to the final of the UEFA Europa League.
With the appointment of Bosz, PSV Eindhoven aims to continue their pursuit of success and reclaim the national championship.
