In a historic moment for freestyle football, the Bomas of Kenya in Nairobi played host to the inaugural World Freestyle Football Championship on Saturday.

The competition featured Norwegian icon Erlend Fagerli, who secured his 10th World Champion title by defeating French talent Tristan Gac in a thrilling male final.

Amidst the vibrant atmosphere in Nairobi, Polish sensation Aguska Mnich showcased her exceptional skills and claimed her sixth World Championship title by defeating Dutch powerhouse Jasmijn Janssen in the female final.

Laura Biondo of Venezuela and Jesse Marlet of the Netherlands earned bronze medals in their respective categories. The 2023 World Freestyle Football Championship marked a significant milestone, adopting the new competitive structure of the Pulse Series, featuring qualification events across all continents.

Adding to the event’s global reach, it was broadcast on Juventus’ TikTok channel, contributing to its massive success.

Erlend Fagerli expressed his joy at winning the championship just before retiring from professional freestyle football, emphasizing the remarkable evolution of the sport since his early days. Aguska Mnich shared her gratitude and described the championship win as a dream come true, attributing her success to her faith.

The event extended beyond the competitive arena, with a series of legacy activities aimed at giving back to the local community in Nairobi.

Despite the local athletes not securing titles, their dedication and passion for the sport were commended, with hopes that the exposure gained from the championship will inspire more individuals in Kenya to explore freestyle football.

The newly-crowned champions, Fagerli and Mnich, have left an indelible mark on the first World Freestyle Football Championship in Africa, showcasing the extraordinary talent and global appeal of this dynamic sport.
