In a thrilling showdown at the Nyayo National Stadium, Homabay’s Genowa Boys secured a resounding 4-2 triumph over neighboring rivals Kisumu in the final of the inaugural Talanta Hela Under-19 football tournament. The victory not only earned Homabay the national title but also a substantial Sh5 million reward.

Governor Gladys Wanga of Homabay couldn’t contain her excitement on the VIP dias, passionately celebrating every goal, pass, and impressive move by her invested team.

The Genowa Boys, seeking redemption after a regional final loss to Kisumu, showcased their resilience and prowess, securing a well-deserved victory.

Cecil Miller initiated the scoring just before halftime, setting the stage for a dominant second-half performance. Hamissi Otieno, Ouma, and Ben Ogutu contributed three more goals, establishing Homabay’s dominance.

While Kisumu managed to pull one back from the penalty spot courtesy of Bavon Omondi and added another through Tonny Odhiambo, it wasn’t sufficient for a comeback.

Homabay’s control of the game ultimately secured their triumphant hold on the boys’ national title. The electrifying match even garnered the attention and applause of President William Ruto, further highlighting the significance of this inaugural tournament.
