Kabras Sugar and KCB RFC Set for Epic Kenya Cup Final Showdown

The stage is set for a classic showdown in the 2023/2024 Kenya Cup final as the perennial powerhouses, Kabras Sugar and KCB RFC, both secured their spots with convincing semi-final wins.

Kabras Sugar, the defending champions, demonstrated their prowess early on by taking a swift 10-0 lead against Nondescripts at the Kakamega Showground. Ntabeni Dukisa was the first to score, followed by a try from Griffin Chao. The Nondies managed to narrow the gap with two penalties, but Kabras Sugar held a 15-6 lead at halftime.

The momentum continued in the second half with Kabras Sugar adding tries from Barry Robinson and Captain George Nyambua. Chao and Bryceon Adaka each contributed a try, while the Nondies could only add another penalty, culminating in a 37-9 victory for Kabras Sugar.

In the capital, the semi-final between KCB RFC and Menengai Oilers kept fans on the edge of their seats. The match was a tight contest with KCB initially leading with a penalty, only for the Oilers to respond with two, flipping the score to 3-6.

KCB’s Vincent Onyala, fresh from his national duties, thrilled the crowd with a try that reclaimed the lead for KCB at 8-6 going into halftime. The second half mirrored the first with an exchange of penalties, keeping the score close at 14-12.

However, KCB took advantage of Oilers’ mistakes, scoring another try converted by Michael Wamalwa, which ultimately secured their place in the final against Kabras Sugar in Kakamega.
