KCB Partners with Mastercard for 2023 East Africa Golf Tour Grand Finale

KCB has teamed up with global payments technology company Mastercard for the 2023 KCB East Africa Golf Tour grand finale scheduled for tomorrow at the Par 72 Karen Country Club.

The event concludes an 8-month-long amateur series, bringing together 142 golfers from Kenya and the East African region.

Competitors will vie for the Sh. 1 million grand prize, and the winning team will earn a chance to participate in the 2024 Magical Kenya Ladies Open at Vipingo Ridge in Malindi, Kilifi County. KCB Group Director of Marketing and Communications, Rosalind Gichuru, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, citing the success of their collaboration on the World Elite Exclusive Credit Card.

KCB injected Sh. 60 million into the tournament, spanning various golf courses across Kenya. Beulah City sponsored a hole-in-one prize with a fully paid apartment at the prestigious Ikhaya Beulah Genesis project.

The Kenyan edition of the golf tour saw 15 teams secure slots in the Pro-Am event, marking the end of a series that engaged over 1,500 participants, including 800 juniors and ladies in concurrent clinics. Notable players in the grand finale include Boaz Sugut, Erick Choge, Josephat Acharo, Edwin Serem, David Sum, John Saina, Eileen Chepchumba, and Sosteen Biwot.

Mastercard Country Manager for East Africa, Shehryar Ali, highlighted KCB’s support for sports in alignment with Mastercard’s strategy to elevate golf to an elite level in the country.

Ali emphasized the power of partnerships to foster shared value and expressed Mastercard’s commitment to supporting the development of golf in Kenya and the East African region.

As part of the golf tour’s sustainability initiative, KCB has planted over 1000 trees in various golf courses visited during the tournament, addressing environmental threats posed by climate change. The grand finale promises an exciting conclusion to the East Africa Golf Tour, reinforcing the collaborative efforts of KCB and Mastercard in advancing the sport.
