KCB Women’s volleyball team emerged victorious, defeating Kenya Pipeline 3-1 in the final match of the 4th leg of the Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) league in a dominant showdown at Nyayo Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The match began with Kenya Pipeline taking an early lead, winning the first set 25-22. However, the KCB bankers quickly turned the tide, securing the next three sets with impressive scores of 25-16, 25-16, and 25-12. This triumph secured a coveted playoff spot for KCB in the ongoing league.

The initial setback served as a wake-up call for the Lionesses, who displayed exceptional performance throughout the game. Juliana Namutira, Esther Mutinda, and the young talent Pauline Chemutai played pivotal roles in turning the match in favour of KCB.

Head Coach Japheth Munala expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance and highlighted the significance of this victory over Kenya Pipeline, who had defeated them in their previous three encounters.

“I am proud of the girls for putting on a show and finally avenging our losses against Kenya Pipeline. Including young players like Pauline Chemutai added more strength to our team, and Esther Mutinda proved to be a formidable force, motivating and driving the team forward. I am thrilled with this win,” Munala commented.

The triumph against Kenya Pipeline marked KCB’s third consecutive victory in the 4th leg of the Kenya Volleyball Federation league. They had previously achieved a 3-0 win against Nairobi Prisons on Friday and a 3-1 victory over DCI the previous evening at the same venue.

“We showcased excellence today. The team was well-prepared for this clash, especially after having suffered defeats against Kenya Pipeline in previous encounters. Each player contributed effectively and executed their role perfectly. Our focus now shifts to the upcoming league playoffs, where we aim to approach every game tactfully and ultimately win the title,” expressed a jubilant KCB Captain, Edith Wisa.

The team now eagerly awaits confirmation from the federation regarding their opponents in the upcoming playoffs, as they continue their quest for volleyball supremacy.
