Kenyan International striker Michael Olunga made history on Monday night by scoring four goals to help Al Duhail clinch the Qatar Stars League title with a 5-2 thrashing of Al Shamal. The victory saw Olunga clinch the Golden Boot for the second consecutive year with a total of 22 goals.

This was a significant achievement for Al Duhail, who won their first league title in three seasons and their eighth overall, dethroning record champions Al Sadd, who have won 16 titles.

Olunga’s four goals kept him out of reach from his closest challenger, Omar Al Somah of Al Arabi, who had 19 goals. Almoez Ali opened the scoring for Al Duhail in the seventh minute before Olunga went on a rampage, scoring in the 21st, 32nd, 35th, and 52nd minutes. Matis Nani scored in the 48th minute for Al Shamal, while Moustafa Tarek netted a consolation goal in the 90+4th minute.

There has been speculation about Olunga’s future, with several European clubs said to be interested. It is only a matter of time before the former Upper Hill and Gor Mahia striker decides on his next move.
