The national under-20 rugby team continued their winning streak at the Barthes Cup, overwhelming Tunisia with a commanding 56-17 victory in Harare, Zimbabwe, on Wednesday evening.

Michael Wamalwa of Kenya Commercial Bank’s (KCB) set the tone with a try in the 27th minute, swiftly followed by a successful conversion by James Olela.

Alvin Khavoli extended the lead with two rapid tries in the 33rd and 38th minutes, before Wamalwa secured his brace in the 43rd minute.

The dominance continued into the second half, with Bramwel Anekea scoring in the 51st minute, followed by another successful conversion by Olela.

Although the North Africans managed to claw back into the game with a try from Mohammed Ksouri and a penalty conversion by flyhalf Mohammed Missaoui, Willy Tino dashed their hopes with a try in the 66th minute.

Despite a response from Mohammed Fellahi with a try for the opponents, Philip Okeyo’s penalty goal in the closing minutes further extended Kenya’s lead.

In the dying moments, another try for Chipu saw Okeyo successfully converting, sealing a comprehensive victory.

This win marks Kenya’s second consecutive triumph following their 34-28 victory over Namibia on Saturday at the same venue.

Next up, Chipu faces a crucial showdown against the hosts and defending champions, Zimbabwe, over the weekend, seeking redemption after last year’s defeat.
