Kenya’s women’s beach volleyball team faced a setback at the FIVB Beach Volleyball Continental Cup in Martil, Morocco, with a 2-0 defeat (9-21, 18-21) to Nigeria on Friday afternoon.

The Kenyan duo, Gaudencia Makokha and Naomi Too, struggled to match the performance of Nigeria’s Pamela Bawa and Esther Mbah.

This loss marked their first stumble in the tournament, contrasting their successful start with a 2-0 victory over Gambia’s Isatou Secka and Ginadou Mariama on Thursday.

The Kenyan men’s team, represented by Brian Melly and Edward Kibet, also experienced disappointment, succumbing 2-1 (22-20, 15-21, 13-15) to Botswana’s Sekao Jack and George Chiswaniso.

This defeat is the third for the men’s team in the Paris Olympics qualifiers, adding to earlier losses against Mauritius and Cameroon in Pool D.

Looking ahead, the men’s team will face Togo in their final match, while the women’s team aims to secure their second consecutive Olympic appearance, building on their inaugural participation in Tokyo in 2021.
