Kevin Anyien Dominates Midway Through Kenya Junior Strokeplay Championship
Kevin Anyien has asserted his dominance midway through the 2024 Kenya Junior Strokeplay championship for boys and girls at the Muthaiga golf course, setting an early marker atop the leaderboard.
After two rounds, Anyien leads the pack with a total score of 149, carding 75 in the first round and improving by one stroke with a 74 in the second.
In the opening round, Anyien showcased resilience, posting a 41 in the front nine and a commendable 34 in the back nine, with a total score of 75. He continued his solid performance in the second round, mirroring his consistency with scores of 37 in both the front and back nine.
Maintaining his composure, Anyien expressed confidence in his game plan, emphasizing the importance of sticking to his strategies and enjoying the game.
Despite adverse weather conditions, Anyien remained unfazed, adapting well to the challenges presented. He acknowledged the need to adjust to the conditions and play accordingly, refusing to let external factors affect his performance.
Meanwhile, Bianca Ngecu leads the girls’ category, holding the seventh position overall with a score of 157, comprising 77 from the first round and 80 in the second. Reflecting on her performance, Ngecu acknowledged her strong play in the first round but recognized the need to minimize mistakes in the upcoming rounds.
With the competition intensifying, Krish Shah trails closely behind in third place, followed by Junaid Manji and Mintash Thacker tied for fourth. Joshua Maina, Tsevi Soni, Jelani Kihanya, and Audrey Gachora are among the contenders vying for the top positions, with Maahir Patel completing the top ten.
As the championship progresses, the race for the title remains tight, promising exciting battles in the rounds to come.
