The Sports Organizing Secretary of the Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) Ismail Chege is anticipating fierce competition at the upcoming KVF Playoffs.

The event is scheduled to take place from October 2-4 at the Moi International Sports Centre (MISC), Kasarani, and Chege have called on fans to show their support by attending in large numbers.

Chege expressed his expectations, saying, “I believe the competition will be of a very high standard during the playoffs, as there are numerous experienced teams participating. Each team will be vying for the top spot and a chance to compete in the African Championships.” The playoffs will feature four teams in both the men’s and women’s categories.

In the men’s category, defending champions General Service Unit (GSU) will aim to retain their title, commencing with a match against the Kenya Defence Forces. They will then face challenges from the Kenya Ports Authority and a resurgent Kenya Prisons team.

Kenya Prisons will start their campaign against Kenya Ports Authority. In the women’s category, Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC), under the guidance of Coach Paul Gitau, seeks to maintain their national crown. At the same time, Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) is eager to secure their first domestic title since 2006.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and Kenya Prisons are completing the women’s category. KPC will compete against DCI, and Kenya Prisons will face off against KCB on the tournament’s opening day.

Chege also mentioned that the federation is set to hold a technical meeting on Friday to determine the uniforms and colours for the participating teams.
