Leopards Outclass Kariobangi Sharks to Make Top 10 FKF Premier League
AFC Leopards secured their fourth consecutive victory, defeating Kariobangi Sharks 2-0 at Nyayo National Stadium. Victor Omune and Boniface Kweyu’s quick second-half goals propelled Leopards to their win, placing them 10th in the FKF Premier League standings and continuing their resurgence.
While Leopards celebrated a significant win, elevating their position in the standings, Sharks descended to the red zone, now 16th with 19 points, just one shy of the automatic relegation zone.
The first half was closely contested, with missed opportunities for both teams. Sharks, in particular, rued missed chances as Patrick Ngunyi provided cutbacks to Keith Imbali, who attempted an overhead kick and had a second attempt blocked.
Leopards had their chances as well, with Aziz Okaka’s shot saved and Hassan Beja’s attempt inches over the target. In the 28th minute, Sharks had another opportunity with Biron Otieno’s shot going over the bar after good play from Geoffrey Onyango and Eric Mmata.
AFC Leopards dominated the second half, earning a penalty just five minutes in after Beja was fouled inside the box. Omune calmly converted the spot-kick, giving Ingwe the lead. Shortly after, Kweyu extended the lead to 2-0, sweeping home a ball from a Kevin Kimani freekick, securing a comfortable advantage.
With a two-goal cushion, Leopards controlled the game, and Sharks struggled to create any significant threats. Leopards even had the opportunity to introduce their new signing, Rwandese striker Arthur Gitego, although he couldn’t find the net on his debut.
