Olympic 800m bronze medalist Mary Moraa made history by setting a new world record in the women’s 600m at the ISTAF Berlin on Sunday evening.

Moraa dominated the race from start to finish, clocking an impressive time of 1:21.63, surpassing the previous record of 1:21.77 set by South Africa’s Caster Semenya in 2017, also in Berlin.

Moraa’s outstanding performance saw her finish well ahead of her competitors, with Shafiqua Malone from St. Vincent securing second place with a time of 1:22.98, and Germany’s Alicia Schmidt taking third in 1:24.88.

This remarkable achievement marked Moraa’s first race since the Paris Olympics, where she earned her first Olympic medal, a bronze, in the 800m with a time of 1:57.42.

Moraa’s world record came just 48 hours after her younger cousin, Sarah, won the world title at the World Under 20 Championships in Lima, Peru, adding to the family’s growing legacy in athletics.
