French football star Kylian Mbappé, recovering from a recent nose injury, was listed as a substitute for France’s Euro 2024 match against the Netherlands on Friday.

Coach Didier Deschamps opted not to start him in the starting lineup for France’s Euro 2024 match against the Netherlands, even though the star forward trained wearing a mask featuring the French tricolor.

The upcoming match in Leipzig is critical, as a win for either team would guarantee a spot in the tournament’s last 16. Mbappé’s participation had been uncertain after he sustained a nose injury from a clash with Austrian defender Kevin Danso during France’s 1-0 victory on Monday.

The 25-year-old forward, who avoided surgery, may still play a part in the match and is eager to score his first European Championship goal. Despite his impressive record of 12 goals across two World Cups, Mbappé has yet to score in his five Euro appearances.

France’s lineup sees one alteration, with Aurelien Tchouameni stepping in for Mbappé. Meanwhile, the Netherlands also made a single change from their previous game, introducing Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen in place of Joey Veerman. The teams are set to clash with high stakes, as progression in the championship hangs in the balance.
