U.S. Soccer has confirmed that midfielder Weston McKennie and defender Sergino Dest will serve their suspensions for “on-field player misconduct” during the Nations League semi-final against Mexico by missing the Gold Cup games.

The disciplinary action was imposed by CONCACAF, the governing body for soccer in North America, Central America, and the Caribbean. McKennie and Mexico’s Cesar Montes received four-match suspensions, while Dest and Mexico’s Gerardo Arteaga were banned for three matches.

These penalties include the automatic one-match ban for players who receive red cards. McKennie and Dest are not included in the United States Gold Cup squad, but defenders Montes and Arteaga are part of Mexico’s roster.

The United States commenced their Gold Cup campaign against Jamaica on Saturday, while Mexico will begin theirs against Honduras on Sunday.
