The highly anticipated Under-23 Africa Cup of Nations tournament is set to kick off this Saturday in Morocco, marking the second time the country has hosted the championship in its 12-year history.

Adding to the excitement, this year’s edition will also serve as the qualifiers for the 2024 Olympic football tournament.

Back in 2011, Morocco hosted the inaugural competition, which also acted as a qualifier for the London 2012 Olympics. The tournament holds significant importance as it showcases the pursuit of continental supremacy and offers young talents a platform to shine.

The competition logo, unveiled in Rabat, Morocco, features a vibrant celebration with a football player holding the trophy, symbolizing the journey towards excellence.

The illustration captures the essence of Africa, with green rays representing the lush green lawns and red symbolizing the passion that drives the competition.

The opening match will be played between Guinea and the host nation, Morocco, on Saturday, June 24th, at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.

Exciting matches are expected to take place in two stadiums throughout the tournament: the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium and the Ibn-Batouta Stadium, also known as the Grand Stade de Tanger.

Group A will feature intense clashes between Morocco, Ghana, Congo, and Guinea, while Group B will see Egypt, Mali, Gabon, and Niger battling it out for the top spots.

The competition promises thrilling encounters and fierce competition among the participating teams.

Notably, the top three teams in the AFCON U23 will secure their place to represent the continent in the prestigious Olympic Games held in Paris, France, next year.

The tournament serves as a stepping stone for these talented young players to showcase their skills on the international stage and potentially make a lasting impact in the world of football.
