Eldoret Sports Club witnessed a sensational showdown as Nondescripts RFC emerged victorious in a thrilling final, defeating Strathmore Leos 12-7 during the Tisap Sevens on Sunday.

This event marked the penultimate round of the National Sevens Circuit, delivering some early surprises as the top contenders were knocked out of the main cup contention. KCB, the top seeds entering the weekend, faced an unexpected setback, falling 5-10 to Menengai Oilers in the quarterfinals.

Similarly, Kabras suffered a shocking defeat, losing 19-5 to Mwamba RFC in the same stage. These exits left the championship wide open, setting the stage for Nondies’ triumphant moment, with Charles Omondi providing the decisive play.

The action heated up as Moses Begi scored an opening try, giving Nondies a 7-0 lead. Daniel Okito successfully added the extras, extending their advantage. However, Strathmore Leos mounted a quick response through Andrew Matoka, with Stephen Osumba nailing the conversion to level the score at 7-7.

Regulation time concluded with a 7-7 tie after a scoreless second half, pushing the contest into extra time, where Nondies ultimately emerged victorious. With this victory, Nondescripts RFC climbed to seventh place in the standings with 50 points.

Meanwhile, Mwamba RFC secured third place after defeating Menengai Oilers 12-7, and KCB claimed the fifth position with a 21-14 win over Kabras.

Kabras currently leads the log with 92 points, holding a narrow one-point advantage over second-place KCB as they head into the final round, the Kabeberi Sevens, next weekend.
