The Safaricom Chapa Dimba tournament advances to the inter-county stage in the Nyanza region, where six counties are gearing up for fierce competition.

The inter-county matches are slated for this weekend, with the participating counties divided into two groups, each consisting of three teams.

The teams will engage in a round-robin format, and the top two from each category will progress to the regional semifinals, scheduled to take place at the Jomo Kenyatta Stadium in Kisumu on September 30 and October 1st.

In Rongo, Nyamira, Kisii, and Migori counties will fiercely compete for the two semifinal spots at Rongo Showground. The boys’ category will feature Kisii County’s Small Simba, Nyaguku from Nyamira, and Awendo Academy. Meanwhile, in the girls’ division, Kisii Queens, Rigoma Starlets, and Ahenga Ladies will battle for supremacy.

Over at Raila Odinga Stadium in Homa Bay, Obunga FC, the Kisumu county champions, are the frontrunners in the boys’ category. They’ll face off against the unpredictable Wagai Secondary from Siaya and Karabondi from Homa Bay. Wagai Secondary was awarded a win after their abandoned match against Ambira Mobimba.

In the girls’ category, Ogande Girls from Homa Bay, Plateau Queens from Homa Bay, and Siaya’s VSA Ladies will vie for the two slots in the regional semifinals.

The regional champions will receive a prize of KES 250,000, while the runners-up will take home KES 150,000. Additionally, the winning teams will secure spots at the national level of the tournament.

The Western region’s leg of the tournament has already concluded, with Ebwali Boys from Vihiga and Brenda Girls emerging as the victors.
