The outstanding performers of the recently concluded Sakaja Super Cup were honored for their exceptional contributions during the three-month tournament on Thursday, December 21, 2023.
In the men’s category, the Golden Boot Award was shared by three players, each scoring 11 goals, namely Cedric Achweya of Kawasaki, Geoffrey Erambo of Riruta 105, and Caleb Abuga of Creative Hands. Each player received a trophy and Ksh50,000 for their remarkable achievement.
On the women’s side, the Nairobi region secondary schools girls’ football champion striker Sheila Atsachi clinched the Golden Boot Award, securing Ksh50,000 after netting 6 goals.
Ramadhan Waliaula of Victor’s Faith and Florence Akinyi of Club Jojo, the tournament’s second runners-up in the men’s and women’s categories, respectively, were crowned as the Most Valuable Players (MVPs), each receiving Ksh50,000.
The Golden Glove awards went to Bramwel Katari of Dandora Hunters in the men’s category and Naomi Achieng’ of Kibagare Girls in the women’s category, with both goalkeepers earning Ksh50,000 each.
Gift Mumo of Kawasaki was honored with the Most Promising Player award, accompanied by Ksh50,000. Curtis Sitati of Embakasi South and Adan Ibrahim of Langata were recognized as the best tournament coordinators, with each receiving Ksh50,000.
The fans of quarter-finalist Creative Hands were named the Best Fan Base, earning a reward of Ksh300,000. Asec Huruma’s fans secured the second-best position, receiving Ksh200,000, while the cheering squad of Githurai All Stars, the tournament’s champions, claimed the third position, winning Ksh100,000. The Best Fans base was judged based on creativity, mobilization, cheering, and discipline while supporting their favorite teams.
The Sakaja Super Cup concluded on December 19th, 2023, with Githurai All Stars dominating the men’s category and Club Jojo of Embakasi Central claiming the women’s title at the Police Sacco astro-turf stadium.
