In a groundbreaking transfer, Real Madrid has officially announced the acquisition of Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund on a six-year contract.

The English international’s move to the Spanish giants comes at a staggering cost of over 100 million euros ($108 million).

Last week, Dortmund confirmed that they had reached an agreement with Madrid for the 19-year-old sensation, with the deal valued at 103 million euros plus potential bonuses of up to 30 per cent of the transfer fee.

Bellingham’s arrival at Real Madrid further strengthens their midfield as the club continues its process of rejuvenation. The young English talent joins the ranks alongside French prodigies Eduardo Camavinga and Aurelien Tchouameni, as the Spanish giants gradually phase out the veteran duo of Luka Modric and Toni Kroos.

Real Madrid expressed their excitement about the signing, stating, “Our club has secured one of the brightest talents in world football, a player who has proven his worth at Borussia Dortmund and was named the Bundesliga’s best player in the 2022-23 season. What makes this even more remarkable is that he is only 19 years old and is already a regular starter for the England national team.”

Bellingham showcased his exceptional skills on the global stage, impressing for Gareth Southgate’s England side during the World Cup last year. England’s campaign came to an end in the quarter-finals at the hands of runners-up France.

Having initially joined Dortmund from Birmingham in 2020 for 25 million euros, the midfielder has since made a significant impact, featuring in 132 matches for the club and helping them lift the German Cup in 2021.

Expressing his gratitude to Dortmund and their loyal fans, Bellingham conveyed his heartfelt appreciation, saying, “Thank you to everyone at BVB and to the fans for everything over the past three years. It was an honour to wear your shirt on numerous occasions, during both monumental and modest moments. While I am excited about my new destination, I will never forget the incredible journey that led me here. Once a Borussian, always a Borussian.”

The football world eagerly anticipates Jude Bellingham’s future endeavours at Real Madrid, where he is expected to make a significant impact with his remarkable talent and potential.
