Tanzanian athlete Erick Majura emerged victorious in the category, attributing his win to thorough preparations and self-confidence. Meanwhile, another Tanzanian competitor, Obadiah Andabwile, secured the third spot in a competition that drew over 335 participants from five different nations.

Kenya’s Wallace Rago settled for second place in the light heavyweight category at the annual Mr. East Africa Natural Bodybuilding Contest held at the Rupaz Health and Fitness Centre in Eldoret.

Majura, a three-time Tanzanian national bodybuilding champion, had previously competed in two events without success but managed to clinch the title on his third attempt. “I came here with the sole purpose of winning, and I am pleased that the judges ruled in my favour,” Majura expressed.

The event’s organizers, led by Nebert Shiveka, announced plans to increase the prize money for next year’s competition.

In the women’s category, Lucy secured victory in the 2023 Ms East Africa Natural Bodybuilding Contest.

Last year’s prize package was set at Ksh 1 million, but it has now been doubled to Ksh 2 million. They also acknowledged the need for a larger venue due to the significant turnout of spectators at this year’s event.

“This was a significant event as we brought together approximately 335 bodybuilders from five nations, including Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Malawi, and Rwanda. We are also delighted that the host nation had a representative from the Ministry of Sports,” Shiveka highlighted. He mentioned that they are considering relocating the event from Rupaz Mall to Eldoret Sports Club.
