The Kenyan national men’s volleyball team, known as Wafalme Stars, faced their second consecutive defeat at the CAVB Men’s African Nations Championship in Cairo, Egypt.

They lost in straight sets, with scores of 25-23, 25-22, and 25-12 against Libya.

This defeat has put the Kenyan team, led by coach Gideon Tarus, in a challenging position in Group C. Their first match in the tournament also ended in a 3-1 sets loss to Cameroon, the silver medalists from the 2021 championship.

As they prepare for their final preliminary match against Ghana, Wafalme Stars find themselves in a must-win situation to avoid finishing at the bottom of their group. Ghana, too, has faced defeats in their initial two matches, losing to Libya (3-1) and Cameroon (3-0).

Meanwhile, the defending champions, Tunisia, continued their impressive start to the tournament as they secured another victory, this time against Chad, winning in straight sets.

Tunisia had previously dominated Mali with a 3-0 victory in their opening fixture on Monday.
