Excitement for Annabell Fuller as she ventures into her professional golf career is palpable, starting with the upcoming Magical Kenya Ladies Open in North Coast Vipingo.
The 21-year-old, having secured her full Ladies European Tour (LET) card at Lalla Aicha Marrakech Q-School, expressed her enthusiasm for the new journey.
Fuller’s path to professionalism included a dominant performance in the Pre-Qualifier at Palmerie Rotana, followed by a strong finish at the Final Stage event in Morocco, securing her LET membership. Despite having one year left at the University of Florida, where she enjoyed a successful collegiate career, Fuller is set to embrace her debut year as a professional golfer in 2024.
Reflecting on her achievement, Fuller mentioned her dream since childhood and the influence of her sister, an inspiring figure in her golfing journey. Her successful amateur career, marked by victories in prestigious championships, positions her as one of the promising rookies to watch in 2024.
The LET season commences with the Magical Kenya Ladies Open in February, following the tradition of starting the year in Africa. The tournament, scheduled from 8-11 February, boasts a competitive field of 108 players competing for a share of €300,000. The event, known for its popularity on the LET schedule, is a significant showcase for Kenya as a tourist destination.
Last year’s champion, India’s Aditi Ashok, will not defend her title, creating anticipation for a new victor in the fourth edition of the tournament. The event will be televised globally, contributing to Kenya’s visibility as an appealing tourist spot.
Naomi Wafula, the only Kenyan player to make the cut since the tournament’s debut in 2019, finished 56th in the previous edition. Fuller, with her rich golfing background, aims to make her mark on the LET, starting with the Magical Kenya Ladies Open.
