The eagerly anticipated second edition of the Africa Beach Games is set to take place in Hammamet, Tunisia, from June 23 to 30.
A remarkable turnout of 52 countries is expected to grace the event, showcasing the continent’s sporting talent and unity.
The list of participating nations is extensive and diverse, including South Africa, Algeria, Angola, Benin, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Central African Republic, Comoros, Congo Brazzaville, Djibouti, Egypt, Eswatini, Ethiopia, Gabon, and the Gambia, among others.
With such a wide representation, the games promise to be a true celebration of African athleticism.
Over 1,100 athletes have confirmed their participation, making it a truly remarkable gathering of talent. Alongside the athletes, 500 officials will be actively involved in ensuring the smooth running of the event. Furthermore, a dedicated team of 300 volunteers has been mobilized to support various aspects of the games.
The Africa Beach Games will be graced by the presence of esteemed guests from prominent Olympic institutions, including the International Olympic Committee, the Director General of Olympic Solidarity, and the Paris 2024 Olympic Games Organizing Committee.
These dignitaries, along with renowned African and global sports figures, will add to the prestigious atmosphere of the event.
With the games held once every four years, the anticipation and excitement surrounding this edition are palpable.
The President of the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA), Mustapha Berraf, emphasized the importance of solidarity in ensuring the success of the African Beach Games.
He highlighted the responsibility of showcasing the Olympic Movement’s values on behalf of the athletes, who are at the core of the movement, and the youth, who represent the future.
