Nigeria’s coach, Jose Peseiro, heaped praise on Victor Osimhen for his exceptional performance as the Super Eagles secured a 2-0 victory over Cameroon in the Africa Cup of Nations last-16 clash on Saturday.
While not finding the net himself, Osimhen’s relentless efforts, especially in creating opportunities for Ademola Lookman’s goals, earned him accolades from Peseiro, who described his contribution as “fantastic.”
Nigeria, three-time champions, now move forward to the quarter-finals against Angola. However, uncertainty looms over goalkeeper Stanley Nwabili’s availability after he was stretchered off late in the game.
Peseiro acknowledged Angola’s strength and emphasized the need for Nigeria to give their best, stating, “They are a very good team. I think in this moment, all the teams can win this tournament.”
“Angola have performed very well, and if we want to beat them we must do our best, like today.”
