Amidst the picturesque greens of Eldoret Golf Club, a triumphant display of skill and camaraderie unfolded as Amos Butit, leading his team comprised of Jackson Kiprono, Wesley Kiprono, and Mike Rotich, emerged victorious in the second leg of the KCB East Africa Golf Tour.
Their combined score of 116 points secured their triumph over their closest rivals, led by Kipchirchir Kiprop, Nelson Orgut, Patrick Kiprop, and Geoffrey Kitiwa, who returned 106 points, setting the stage for a thrilling showdown at the tour’s grand finale slated for December 6.
Addressing the audience during the prize-giving ceremony, Butit attributed their success to strategic planning and rigorous training, expressing optimism about representing the Eldoret Club with pride in the upcoming grand finale.
Meanwhile, amidst the competitive atmosphere, young golfer Ryan Tolgos showcased exceptional talent, clinching the overall victory with an impressive 49 points. Wesley Kiprono, displaying seasoned prowess, claimed the men’s winner award with a stellar performance, while Faith Mburu emerged as the day’s lady winner with her impressive score.
Not to be outdone, guest golfer Bob Kennedy Odhiambo claimed victory in the guest category, underscoring the diverse talent present at the event. In the staff category, Nicholas Okello stood out, securing the coveted award, while Kennedy Serem and Gracemary Kamura showcased their prowess in the longest driver category for men and women, respectively.
Beyond the competitive spirit, the event also served as a platform for nurturing budding talent, with KCB hosting a juniors’ and ladies’ golf clinic, fostering the growth of the sport. Additionally, a tree planting initiative underscored the commitment to sustainability, ensuring that the legacy of the golf series extends beyond the greens.
Looking ahead, the tour sets its sights on Kakamega Golf Club for the third leg on April 13, reaffirming its mission to promote golf across twenty counties in Kenya and four countries in the East African region. As the journey continues, the stage is set for further displays of skill, camaraderie, and sportsmanship in the vibrant landscape of East African golf.
