With the African Men’s Volleyball Clubs Championship on the horizon, Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) is ramping up their training efforts in Mombasa.
Joash Ontere, the head coach, is optimistic about the team’s chances to secure a top-three finish in Cairo next month, aiming to improve upon their fifth-place result from the previous year in Tunisia.
Ontere is banking on the fresh talent to fill the void left by key players who have moved on to European clubs or other professional opportunities. Despite these changes, the coach’s confidence in the new lineup remains unshaken.
The team is looking to the upcoming Kenya Pipeline Volleyball Tournament as a critical test of their readiness. This event will serve as a final tune-up before they embark on their quest for glory in North Africa.
KPA, alongside Equity, will represent Kenya in the championship, which is scheduled to take place from April 14 to 23. For Equity, this marks their second participation, with hopes to surpass their tenth-place debut last year.
