John Mburu of Nakuru Golf Club displayed his prowess on Saturday, clinching the men’s Division One title in his home club’s leg of the 2024 NCBA Golf Series with a solid round of 37 stableford points.
Despite stiff competition from clubmate Nanu Hassanali, who secured the runner-up position with 36 stableford points, Mburu emerged victorious.
In the ladies’ category, Emma Pennington, also from Nakuru Golf Club, showcased her skills and claimed victory with 33 stableford points.
In Division Two, Joseph Munene topped the men’s category with 42 points, while Esther Karuga emerged victorious in the ladies’ category with 39 points. Esther Thuku triumphed in Division Three with an impressive total of 46 points.
Tirus Mwithiga, NCBA Group Retail Director, and Junior Gurtej Sahota both displayed remarkable skills, securing victories in the Staff and Junior categories, respectively.
Hussein Hassanali and Gabriel Gathure emerged victorious in the first and second Nines, respectively. Ann Nduati and Enock Ogembo won the Longest Drive Challenge, while Christopher Makomere clinched victory in the Nearest to the Pin Challenge. Gitiria Kamau emerged as the Guest winner.
During the prize-giving ceremony, NCBA Group Managing Director John Gachora emphasized the bank’s commitment to sports as a catalyst for positive change and community development. Nakuru Golf Club captain Mathew Maiyo expressed pride in the talent and sportsmanship displayed during the tournament, thanking NCBA for their support.
Six top golfers from the Nakuru event have secured their slots to play at the Series 2024 Grand Finale. Following the Nakuru event, the series heads to Eldoret Sports Club for the next leg on April 6.
