The General Service Unit (GSU) volleyball team concluded their 2023-24 Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) men’s Premier League season with a decisive victory over the Administration Police Kenya (APK) in a commanding performance at Nyayo Stadium.
Dominating the court, GSU won in straight sets (25-18, 25-20, 25-19), clinching the top seed and edging out Kenya Prisons by a two-point lead.
The match commenced with both teams showcasing their strength through vigorous spikes and quick serves. GSU quickly demonstrated their superiority, strategically outmaneuvering APK and establishing an early lead. Despite APK’s resilience, GSU’s robust defense and cohesive play led to a convincing win in the first set.
GSU’s supremacy was further solidified as the game progressed, with the team exhibiting flawless coordination and seizing every chance to capitalize on APK’s missteps.
Post-match, GSU’s coach David Kirwa praised his team’s stellar performance and emphasized the importance of continuous improvement. “Today’s win is a testament to our hard work, but it’s not the end. We’ll keep training hard to achieve even greater success,” said Coach Kirwa, setting their sights on a strong playoff campaign.
Simultaneously, the Trailblazers secured their position above the Kenya Army in the league standings with a straight-set triumph. The Trailblazers’ experienced lineup delivered accurate serves and dynamic plays, quickly establishing dominance over the Kenya Army, who, despite a valiant effort, couldn’t keep pace with their adversaries.
Kenya Army’s coach Ali Muktar remained optimistic, recognizing the team’s incremental progress and the value of competition in honing their skills. “Our journey is one of continuous growth, and each match brings us closer to our peak performance,” he reflected.
