The diverse team consists of 33 men and 26 women, blending seasoned athletes with newcomers to the international arena.
Among them are Stanley Waithaka, the 2022 World 5000m silver medalist, Mary Ekiru Nyaruai, the reigning African Games 1500m champion along with her male counterpart Brian Komen, Caroline Nyaga, the current Africa 5000m champion, Mark Otieno, the erstwhile national 100m record holder, and Teresiah Gateri, the 2021 World Under 20 3000m champion.
In preparation for the championships, AK has instructed all athletes to convene at Riadha House headquarters by 3 pm on Thursday to begin their residential training immediately.
Under the guidance of head coach Julius Kirwa and AK chairman from the National Police Service Stephen Etyang, the team is set to embark on a journey that could secure their spots at the Paris Olympics, as the championships also serve as an Olympic qualifying event.
