Gor Mahia, record national league champions, maintained their lead at the top of the log with a 2-1 win over Mathare United in a midweek league encounter at the Moi International Sports Centre Kasarani.
K’Ogalo took the lead in the 25th minute through Philemon Otieno’s goal before Mathare United equalized with Ronald Sichenje’s low, hard shot past Gad Mathews in the 40th minute.
Gor dominated the first half but failed to capitalize on their chances. In the second half, winger Boniface Omondi scored the winner in the 60th minute, extending Gor’s lead to 62 points, four ahead of second-placed Tusker FC, who were struggling to find the net in another midweek tie match against Nairobi City Stars.
At the Nyayo Stadium, Ulinzi Stars secured a 1-0 win over AFC Leopards, with Boniface Muchiri scoring the only goal of the game.
AFC Leopards have failed to win their last six matches, drawing four and losing two, and now sit ninth on the log with 39 points, making their title hopes fade.
In Sudi Stadium, Nzoia FC beat FC Talanta 1-0, taking them to third place with 57 points, one behind second-placed Robert Matano’s men.
Kakamega Homeboyz defeated Wazito 1-0 at Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega, and Kenya Police clobbered Bidco FC 2-0 with an Elvis Rupia double in the 12th and 80th minute.
KCB drew 0-0 with coach-less Bandari FC at the Kasarani Annex, continuing their stuttering run in the title race.
