Kigali, Rwanda – Kenya is set to participate in the inaugural Giants of Africa Youth Basketball Festival, scheduled to take place from August 13 to 19.
The event, which marks Giants of Africa’s 20th anniversary, will bring together 16 countries in a celebration of basketball, education, culture, and entertainment.
Masai Ujiri, the co-founder of Giants of Africa and Vice-Chairman/President of the Toronto Raptors, shared his enthusiasm for the milestone event, stating that the Giants of Africa Festival marks a significant moment for their organization. Ujiri expressed their intention to celebrate 20 years of empowering youth and extend gratitude to the incredible communities that have warmly embraced their initiatives.
Ujiri further added that the festival serves as a platform to inspire and motivate young individuals, acknowledging their tremendous potential and the collective endeavours in fostering constructive transformations.
The festival will feature prominent artists such as Davido, Tiwa Savage, and Diamond Platnumz, who will perform at the opening and closing ceremonies. Their presence is expected to amplify the festival’s spirit and uplift the aspirations of the local youth in attendance.
With a focus on basketball, education, culture, and entertainment, the Giants of Africa Youth Basketball Festival seeks to unite and celebrate the next generation of leaders across Africa.
Youth campers from Kenya, Tanzania, Nigeria, Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, Rwanda, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Senegal, Somalia, Uganda, Botswana, Ghana, South Sudan, Morocco, Cameroon, and Mali will participate in the event.
The BK Arena will host three public events: the opening ceremony celebration on August 13, the closing concert on August 19, and the Boys’ Championship Game, the Girls’ Championship Game, and All-Star Game on August 18.
This festival promises to be a remarkable showcase of talent, teamwork, and African excellence, as nations come together to promote youth development and create a lasting impact.
