Kakamega Homeboyz emerged as the champions of the 2023 FKF Cup, securing a surprising 1-0 victory over Tusker FC in the final held at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani on Saturday.
In a tightly contested match, Kevin Amwayi scored the decisive goal in the 73rd minute, clinching the victory and securing Homeboyz’s first-ever major trophy.
The defeat was a disappointing end to the season for Tusker, who had been in contention for a league and cup double but ultimately finished empty-handed. Meanwhile, Homeboyz’s triumph earned them prize money of Sh2 million and the opportunity to represent Kenya in the 2023/24 CAF Confederation Cup.
In the earlier third-place playoff at the same venue, AFC Leopards secured a 1-0 victory over Ulinzi Stars, with Eugene Mukangula finding the back of the net.
