A Blistering Start for KPA in Play-off Semis at Nyayo

KPA (Kenya Ports Authority) successfully defended their title after thrashing Strathmore University Swords 78-37 in the women’s Kenya Basketball Federation Premier League playoffs semifinals Game One at Nyayo National Stadium Gymnasium on Saturday.

Initially, KPA struggled to dominate the game, but after coach Anthony Ojukwu’s decision to change tactics, Rebecca Nkatha, Hilda Indasi, and Ifunaya Okoro executed three-pointers, leading the team to victory. Indasi scored 12 points,

Belinda Akoth scored 11, and Okoro made 13 points for the champions. Swords, coached by Ronnie Owino, replied with ten points from Edna Kola.

On Sunday, the two teams will face each other again at the same venue for Game Two. KPA eliminated JKUAT Lynx in the quarter-finals, while Strathmore Swords beat Storms.

Earlier on Saturday, USIU-A (United States International University-Africa) teams won their respective matches in the Division One League playoffs semifinals.

The men’s team Tigers won against Absa Bank 70-58 in Game One of the best-of-five series, while the women’s team Flames hit Strathmore University 61-45.

The Game Two matches are scheduled for Sunday at the same venue. Strathmore University defeated Snipers 65-58 in the men’s Division One, while Cabal Elisists took the lead after beating National Bank 62-61 in the men’s Division Two.

Equity Dumas men’s team beat Ulinzi Warriors 69-58 while Zetech Sparks defeated Equity Hawks 75-72 in the women’s Game One of the best-of-five series at Nyayo on Friday night.

In summary, KPA defends their championship title, USIU-A Flames and Tigers win their respective matches, and Strathmore University Swords, Cabal Elisists, Equity Dumas, Zetech Sparks, and Strathmore University succeed in their games.
