In a surprising turn of events, AC Milan’s technical director, Paolo Maldini, is set to leave the San Siro, following the announcement of Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s retirement.

According to reports from Fabrizio Romano, Maldini’s departure is attributed to a divergence in the club’s future vision with chairman Gerry Cardinale. Co-director Ricky Massara is also expected to make an exit from the Rossoneri.

Maldini, 54, rejoined the club in 2018 and ascended to the role of technical director in 2019. A product of the esteemed Milan Academy, Maldini enjoyed an illustrious playing career, spanning 25 years with the club from 1984 to 2009.

During this time, he made a remarkable 902 appearances in all competitions, a record that stands to this day.

Throughout his tenure, Maldini secured an impressive array of silverware, capturing seven Scudetti, a Coppa Italia, and five Champions League titles with AC Milan.

His contributions on the international stage were equally remarkable, as he represented Italy 126 times and participated in four World Cups.

The departure of Paolo Maldini marks the end of an era at AC Milan, with the club bidding farewell to a true legend.
