Agoro Sare, Sigalame Triumph in Regional High Schools Basketball Finals
Agoro Sare High School’s basketball team clinched their place in the National championships after a decisive victory over Maseno School in the Nyanza Regional finals in a thrilling display of athleticism and teamwork, this Saturday.
The team’s 51-44 win marks a significant comeback, having missed the previous year’s Nationals due to an elimination by Onjiko High School.
Sigalame High School also secured their ticket to the Nationals, outplaying Friends School Kamusinga in a closely fought match that showcased the teams’ endurance and skill.
Both teams were neck and neck until the final moments when Sigalame pulled ahead to claim the Western region’s spot in the upcoming National championship.
The girls’ competitions were equally competitive, with Ng’iya Girls emerging victorious against Nyakach Girls with a score of 44-40. Meanwhile, in the Western region, the defending National champions Butere Girls High School demonstrated their prowess, dominating Tigoi Girls with an impressive 104-41 win to advance to the finals.
Butere Girls have consistently shown they are a force to be reckoned with, having decimated Nangina Girls and Misikhu Girls in earlier rounds and defeating Bunyore Girls High School in the semi-finals. Their final victory over Tigoi, the former National champions, solidifies their status as the favorites for the National championship.
As the regional competitions wrap up, anticipation builds for the National championship scheduled to take place in April at Machakos. While Butere Girls are tipped as the favorites, the outcome is far from certain. The Rift Valley edition of the competition has been postponed following a tragic road accident involving Kapsabet Boys School students.
The journey to the Nationals has been one of determination and resilience, with each team showcasing their dedication to the sport. With the stage set for the National showdown, basketball fans eagerly await to see which teams will rise to the occasion and claim the ultimate title.
