All Set for the KCB East Africa Golf Tour in Kigali

Over 200 golfers are set to take the spotlight at the East Africa Golf Tour, hosted at the picturesque 18-hole Kigali Golf Course this weekend.

Both seasoned professionals and amateur golfers will tee off at 6:00 a.m. on Saturday, with another round of play commencing at 12:00 p.m. in the afternoon.

The ongoing series, hosting 132 players, has already witnessed 12 teams securing their spots for the eagerly anticipated Pro-Am grand finale event scheduled at the Karen Country Club on November 24.

Adding to the excitement, a team from Rwanda will be joining the event as the showdown approaches. In a recent qualifying round, a group comprising Jackson Musomba, Simon Kimatu, Ben Mumo, Francis Mbithi, Joseph Malatu, Francis Musembi, Kyalo Munyao, and Engineer Okemwa earned their places in the grand finale at the par 72 Machakos Golf Club.

Albert Akimanzi of BPR Bank expressed, “The Tour’s objective is to engage golf enthusiasts from across the East African region, aiming to expand the sport’s reach. The Rwanda edition allows emerging golf talents to showcase their skills while enjoying the splendid Kigali golf course.”

Andrew Kulayige, the Captain of Kigali Golf Club, extended a warm welcome, stating, “We are thrilled to host the KCB East Africa Golf Tour in the ‘land of a thousand hills’ for an extraordinary golf tournament on Saturday. Our course is impeccably prepared for the event, as one team seeks to secure a place in the grand finale. I encourage golfers from the city and its surroundings to participate in this competition, which will undoubtedly position Kigali as a sports hub. We eagerly anticipate the grand finale and hope our team will emerge victorious.”

The Tour is set to continue at the 18-hole Nyali Golf Club on November 4.
