Amira Sailors’ Okumu scores twice to secure a 3-0 victory over UON

Amira Sailors easily overcame the University of Nairobi (UON) with a 3-0 victory at City Park Stadium in a women’s hockey Premier League match played on May 7.

International player Gilly Okumu was the hero for Sailors, scoring twice in the 36th and 46th minute, while Yvette Kanyandong added another goal in the 30th minute. The Sailors remain unbeaten this season, having registered two draws prior to this win.

Meanwhile, record champions Blazers showed their title ambitions after thrashing Kenyatta University Titans 6-1 in a commanding performance.

Flavia Mutiva scored the opener for Blazers in the 11th minute, but Titans’ Monica Kitui equalized four minutes later.

Alice Wanjiru restored Blazers’ lead in the 21st minute before Maureen Okumu scored a brace and Terry Masibo added another goal to seal the victory. With this result, Blazers has scored a total of 12 goals in three matches.

In the men’s Super League, Wazalendo Masters hammered Parklands 4-2, thanks to goals from William Mutua, Mathew Mutiso, and a double from Wycliffe Mbeda. Franklin Knoldi and Hesbon Galinya scored for Parklands.
