In her resounding defense of the Australian Open title, Aryna Sabalenka extended her dominance with a swift 6-0 6-0 triumph over Lesia Tsurenko, securing her place in the fourth round in just 52 minutes.

The Belarusian second seed has conceded merely six games in her three matches at Melbourne Park this year, showcasing formidable form.

Sabalenka expressed her aspiration to emulate Iga Swiatek’s set victories from the previous year, emphasizing her goal to approach such an achievement.

Meanwhile, US Open champion Coco Gauff also sailed into the fourth round, securing a 6-0 6-2 victory over Alycia Parks. Gauff, yet to drop a set in the tournament, is poised to face either Magdalena Frech or Anastasia Zakharova, while Sabalenka is set to take on Amanda Anisimova.

Sabalenka’s campaign in Melbourne has been marked by serene progress, contrasting with the early exits of some of her title rivals. While other contenders faced tough battles, Sabalenka’s efficient performances have positioned her as a formidable force.

Reaching the semifinals in all four majors last year, Sabalenka emphasizes that she is in even better form in 2024. Reflecting on her flawless performance, she noted the perpetual pursuit of improvement.

The upcoming challenge against Anisimova, who returned to major competition after a mental health break, promises to test Sabalenka’s mettle in the quest for further success.

Anisimova clinched a notable victory over former world number two Paula Badosa, setting the stage for an intriguing encounter with the reigning champion.
