Posted on

The Commonwealth Games 100m champion Ferdinand Omanyala has claimed another win at the second leg of the ASA Grand Prix held in Germiston, South Africa on Wednesday evening.

Omanyala clocked a time of 10.05 seconds to win the race, followed by his compatriot Samuel Imeta who finished in second place with a time of 10.22 seconds, and Sibusiso Matsenjwa of Swaziland who finished third with a time of 10.33 seconds.

Although Omanyala improved on his time from the first leg of the race, which he finished in 10.12 seconds, he still fell short of breaking the sub-10 second barrier.

“We are just getting deeper and deeper as we build up towards the season and I hope we will get it (sub-10) sooner,” said Omanyala.

The 27-year-old athlete will now participate in a series of races leading up to the Kipkeino Classic on May 13, where he will defend his title on home soil.

He will next race at the Botswana Grand Prix before heading to Atlanta for another event before returning home for the Kipkeino Classic.
