Athletics Kenya (AK) has rescheduled the African Games trials, previously canceled, to take place on March 5-6 at Nyayo National Stadium.

Additionally, the National Cross Championships, postponed last weekend in honor of world marathon record holder Kelvin Kiptum, will now be held on March 2 at the Kenya Prisons Grounds in Ruiru, Kiambu County.

The Nyayo event will serve as the platform for selecting a team to represent Kenya at the upcoming African Games scheduled for March 8-23 in Accra, Ghana.

Similarly, the National Cross Country Championships will be crucial in identifying athletes to compete in the World Athletics Cross Country Championships set for March 30 in Belgrade, Serbia.

Meanwhile, the chief government pathologist Dr. Johansen Oduor, along with detectives from the Homicide Unit of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations and forensic experts and analysts from the government chemist, is currently conducting a post-mortem on the body of Kelvin Kiptum at Eldoret Hospital. Family members of Kiptum are also present during the autopsy.

Kiptum, the world marathon record holder, is scheduled to be laid to rest at his home in Uasin Gishu County on Friday. His coach, Gervais Hakizimana, will be interred on Wednesday afternoon at the Rusororo Cemetery in Kigali.
