LSU women’s basketball team emerged victorious with a 102-85 win over Iowa, in Dallas on Sunday to claim the 2023 national title.
Former US President Barack Obama, an ardent basketball fan, sent his congratulatory message to the team via Twitter on Monday.
In his tweet, Obama said, “Congrats to the new champs, @LSUwbkb! They earned it, and I have a feeling we’ll be seeing a lot more from them in the years ahead.”
Although Obama did not attend the game, other distinguished guests, including First Lady Jill Biden and tennis icon Billie Jean King, were present.
The team plans to hold a championship parade at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, followed by a celebration inside the Pete Maravich Assemblin Center at 7 p.m.
