Blades Slice Through Tigers in Dominant KNBL Playoff Opener

Posted on

The Strathmore Blades men’s basketball team launched their 2023-24 Kenya National Basketball League playoff campaign with a commanding victory over the USIU Tigers, securing an 82-51 win in the first game of their quarterfinal series at the Nyayo Gymnasium.

From the outset, the Blades took control, edging out a 16-12 lead by the end of the first quarter and widening the gap to 32-23 by halftime. Their momentum continued unabated into the third quarter, where they amassed a commanding 67-35 lead, ultimately sealing the win with an 82-51 scoreline at the final buzzer.

The USIU Tigers appeared disoriented throughout the match, with their defense faltering against the Blades’ sharp mid-range shooting. This performance leaves USIU’s head coach, David Maina, with much to ponder as he considers strategic adjustments before the next game.

The Blades, on their part, executed their strategy flawlessly, exploiting the defensive weaknesses of the Tigers to rack up points. They will undoubtedly seek to maintain this level of play in the upcoming weekend, hoping to close out the series with a 2-0 victory.
