Bunyore Starlets’ talented striker, Airin Madaline, is determined to maintain her impressive form as she vies for the coveted Golden Boot in the 2022/2023 Kenya Women’s Premier League.

Madaline currently leads the scoring charts with 17 goals, holding a narrow edge over Puren Alukwe from Zetech Sparks, who has netted 14 goals.

Monica Etot of Kisumu Starlets and Wendy Atieno of Thika Queens both share the third spot with 13 goals each, although Atieno is currently sidelined due to a head injury sustained at the beginning of the second leg.

Several other players have also showcased their goal-scoring prowess, including Maureen Achieng from Vihiga Queens with 12 goals, as well as Jackline Chesang (Wadadia) and Mutukiza Wambui (Gaspo) with 11 goals apiece. Lydia Akoth of Gaspo and Elizabeth Muteshi of Nakuru City Queens have both contributed 10 goals to their respective teams.

Madaline expressed her determination to give her all in the remaining matches, striving to score more goals and clinch the top scorer title in the Kenya Women’s Premier League.

With only two matches left this season, Bunyore Starlets are scheduled to face Trans Nzoia Falcons at Nduru Stadium in Kitale, followed by hosting Nakuru City Queens at Mumboha Stadium.

Recognizing the collective effort required for her success, Madaline acknowledged the support of her teammates, emphasizing that her current achievement wouldn’t have been possible without their contributions.

She acknowledged the pressure that comes with leading the scoring chart, but remains focused on delivering strong performances.

“The responsibility of leading the scoring chart is significant. It entails pressure from the coach, teammates, and fans,” Madaline shared. She added, “As a striker, when I’m having an off day, I need to quickly regroup and create opportunities for others to try their luck.”

Madaline believes that securing the Golden Boot will serve as a stepping stone for Bunyore Starlets to compete for the KWPL trophy in the upcoming 2023/2024 season. With confidence, she expressed her belief that the team will avoid relegation and participate in the Kenya Women’s Premier League next season.

As the season reaches its climax, all eyes will be on Madaline as she strives to maintain her goal-scoring prowess and secure the coveted Golden Boot, contributing to the success and aspirations of Bunyore Starlets.
