Premiere League-bound Burnley has clinched the Engaland’s Championship title with a 1-0 win over Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park.
Manuel Benson’s goal secured the victory for Burnley, who only managed one shot on target during the game.
The match was a fiercely contested Lancashire derby, with both teams battling hard for the win. Despite not being at their best, Vincent Kompany’s men did enough to secure the title and also prevent Blackburn from climbing into the playoff places.
Benson’s goal, his 12th of the season, opened up a 13-point lead over second-placed Sheffield United, who have four games left to play. Blackburn’s winless run now extends to eight matches, and they remain outside the playoff places on goal difference.
